Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about Renovel's services — custom furniture, interior design, renovation, and furniture moving across Dubai and the UAE.

Custom Furniture

How long does custom furniture take to manufacture?

Lead times for custom furniture in Dubai depend on complexity. Standard pieces — wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, bedroom furniture — are typically ready for installation within 3–5 weeks of order confirmation. More complex projects with specialist materials may take 6–8 weeks. We confirm lead times in every quote.

What materials do you use for custom furniture?

We use moisture-resistant MDF and engineered wood cores for cabinet carcasses, selected for stability in the UAE climate. Fronts and visible surfaces use lacquered MDF, real wood veneer, or laminate depending on the brief. Hardware is Blum or equivalent European-grade soft-close mechanisms. We do not use low-density particleboard where moisture contact is possible.

Can I choose my own finishes, colours, and fabrics?

Yes. Custom furniture means exactly that — you choose the material, finish, colour, and configuration. We bring samples to your home or office so you can see them in your light conditions before committing. For upholstery, we carry fabric books from several suppliers across different price points.

Do you deliver and install, or just manufacture?

We handle the full process — design, manufacturing, delivery, installation, and final touches. We do not manufacture and leave you to organise installation. Every piece is installed by our own team.

What warranty do you offer on custom furniture?

We provide a 2-year warranty on all custom furniture covering manufacturing defects and hardware failures. Normal wear, misuse, or damage from modification or DIY repairs are not covered. Warranty claims are handled directly by Renovel — you do not need to contact third parties.

Interior Design

What does the interior design process look like?

Our process has four stages: (1) Consultation — we visit the property, discuss your brief, lifestyle, and budget. (2) Concept — we present a design direction with mood boards, material samples, and indicative layout. (3) Design development — detailed drawings, furniture specifications, and final material selections. (4) Implementation — we manage all suppliers, contractors, and installation. You have a single point of contact throughout.

Do you provide 3D visualisations before starting work?

Yes. For interior design projects, we provide 3D rendered visuals of key rooms before any work begins. This lets you see how the finished space will look and make changes at the design stage rather than after installation.

Can you work around furniture I already own?

Yes. Many clients want to keep existing pieces that have sentimental or practical value. We design around what you have, recommend what to replace, and source or manufacture the new pieces needed to complete the look.

What design styles does Renovel offer?

We do not impose a house style. We design to the client's brief — which in Dubai means we work regularly in contemporary minimalism, Arabic-influenced luxury, Scandinavian, transitional, and maximalist luxury styles. Roosa Kaskinen, our lead designer, has particular expertise in contemporary interiors with warmth and lived-in quality.

Do you work with overseas clients who cannot visit in person?

Yes. A significant portion of our clients are overseas investors or expatriates who manage the project remotely. We conduct consultations via video call, share regular photo and video progress updates, and can provide a complete turnkey service — from design through to handing back the keys — without requiring you to be present.

Renovation

What is included in a turnkey renovation?

Turnkey renovation covers everything from initial design through to final handover — demolition of existing finishes, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) upgrades where needed, tiling, flooring, plastering, painting, kitchen and bathroom installation, joinery, and final cleaning. You receive a key to a finished space. See our turnkey renovation page for details.

How long does an apartment renovation take in Dubai?

A standard 1-bedroom apartment renovation (full fit-out) typically takes 4–6 weeks from start of works. 2–3 bedroom apartments take 6–10 weeks. Timelines depend on scope, material lead times, and building access schedules. We provide a detailed project timeline with every renovation quote.

Do you handle building permits and approvals for renovation in Dubai?

For structural changes or major MEP work, Dubai Municipality or building management approval may be required. We advise on whether permits are needed for your specific scope and can assist with the submission process. For cosmetic renovation (flooring, painting, fixtures), permits are generally not required.

What does renovation cost per sq ft in Dubai?

Renovation cost in Dubai varies significantly by scope and finish level. Basic cosmetic renovation (flooring, painting, fixtures) typically runs AED 100–200 per sq ft. Mid-range renovation including kitchen and bathroom fit-outs runs AED 250–450 per sq ft. High-specification renovation with premium materials can exceed AED 600 per sq ft. Use our renovation cost calculator for a more personalised estimate, or contact us for a site-based quote.

Furniture Moving

How far in advance should I book furniture moving?

We recommend booking at least 5–7 days in advance for a standard move. For large-volume moves or inter-emirate relocations, 10–14 days is better to guarantee your preferred date. Same-day or next-day moves are sometimes possible — call us on {phone} to check availability.

Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture during a move?

Yes. Our moving team disassembles flat-pack and modular furniture at the origin and reassembles it at the destination. Large custom pieces that were installed in place (built-in wardrobes, fixed shelving) are handled on a case-by-case basis — we assess these during the pre-move survey.

Do you move furniture between emirates?

Yes. We move between all seven UAE emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain. Inter-emirate moves are priced based on volume and distance. Contact us for a specific quote.

What happens if something is damaged during the move?

All furniture is wrapped and protected using moving blankets and packing materials before loading. In the rare event of damage during transit, we assess the item and either repair, restore, or compensate based on the nature of the damage. We handle claims directly without redirecting you to third parties.
